SWAT Team Raids Organic Farm in Texas For No Reason, Wastes Tax Dollars

No Weed, Just Weeds: City of Arlington SWAT Raid on Peaceful Organic Farmers is a Big Budget Bust

''We have been targeted by the system because we are showing people how to live without it. We are growing more than just tomatoes here, we are growing the consciousness that will allow people to live freely and sustainably, and the system doesn’t want that to be known.''

ARLINGTON, TX – At around seven thirty last Friday morning, inhabitants of The Garden of Eden, a small Intentional Community based on Sustainability, were awakened by a SWAT raid conducted by the City of Arlington for suspicion of being a full fledged marijuana growth and trafficking operation. Ultimately only a single arrest was made based on unrelated outstanding traffic violations, a handful of citations were given for city code violations, and zero drug related violations were found.
The entire operation lasted about 10 hours and involved many dozens of city officials, SWAT team, police officers and code compliance employees, and numerous official vehicles including dozens of police cars and several specialized vehicular equipment that was involved in the “abatement” operation. Witnesses say that there were helicopters and unmanned flying drones circling the property in the days prior to the raid that are presumed to have been a part of the intelligence gathering. The combined expenses for the raid itself and the collection of information leading up to the fruitless raid are estimated in the tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars.
All 8 adults present in the house were initially handcuffed at the gunpoint of heavily armed SWAT officers, including the mother of a 22 month old and a two week old baby who was separated from her children during the raid. The police enforced activity on the day of the raid included mowing the grass, the forcible destruction of both wild and cultivated plants like blackberries, lamb’s quarters and okra, and the removal of other varied materials from around the premises such as pallets, tires and cardboard that the Community members say they had collected for use in sustainability projects. No marijuana or other drugs were found on site and the inhabitants of the premises were all unarmed.
After several hours and many requests from the community members, the City Police Officers finally produced two warrants. The first was a Search Warrant for a suspected marijuana growth and distribution operation purportedly being concealed on the premises. There was also an Inspection & Abatement Warrant for code compliance violations such as tall grass and storage in the yard, an issue that the City of Arlington and The Garden of Eden have been disputing since February of this year.  The marijuana warrant was issued based on an unsubstantiated claim by an Arlington City Police Officer of possession of marijuana by one of the community members for which there is no police record. Garden of Eden community members also say they have a series of documents showing that their dispute with the City of Arlington over the code compliance violations had already been addressed and settled.
Landowner Shellie Smith states that she has been requesting a peaceful and honorable resolution since the onset of the dispute in February, requesting the aid of the City Manager Trey Yelverton, Sheriff Dee Anderson and Mayor Robert Cluck, but has received no response in the matter. Ms. Smith says “the City codes are in violation of our natural and Constitutional rights to live freely while causing damage to no one, and since there is no damaged party, there has been no crime committed on our part. Rather, the City of Arlington has trespassed and committed robbery against us, amongst other crimes, and will be held accountable in a court of law in due time. We have been targeted by the system because we are showing people how to live without it. We are growing more than just tomatoes here, we are growing the consciousness that will allow people to live freely and sustainably, and the system doesn’t want that to be known.”

The Garden of Eden is a small intentional community in southwest Arlington dedicated to Freedom, Sustainability and Responsibility. Since 2009 they have been providing food, shelter and sustainability education classes and workshops to the public for free. Their 3.5 acre land contains chickens, bees, composting stations, a large vegetable garden and many wildcrafted trees and plants that are used for foods, medicines, and household and beauty products. Their vision is to be a fully self-sustaining center for education on sustainable living. Texas Police Pull Over Three Women And Cavity Search Them For Marijuana

Like our NEW page on Facebook.Click here > EducateInspireChange.org
A pair of videos posted online show police probing the genitals and anal regions of three women they claim to suspect of possessing marijuana. In one video, a woman is seen bent over and grimacing as an off camera police officer conducts the search. Shortly before this search, a male officer explains to the woman that he is calling a female officer over "because I ain’t about to get up close and personal with your woman areas."

The videos depict two vehicle stops, one for speeding and another for littering. In both videos, a male officer asks the women if they have any marijuana in the vehicle, suggesting that the purpose of their search is to find evidence of this drug. At one point, immediately before conducting her search of a woman’s genitals, a female officer warns the woman that if she "hid something in there, we’re going to find it."

FULL CAVITY SEARCH: Driver accuses Texas DPS Trooper of extreme humiliation

These searches almost certainly violate the Constitution. Although police do have broad latitude to search a vehicle when they have probable cause to believe that they will uncover contraband within, it is quite a stretch to extend these precedents to this most intimate of searches. As the Supreme Court explained in a 2009 decision regarding a student who was strip searched by school administrators, "both subjective and reasonable societal expectations of personal privacy support the treatment of such a search as categorically distinct, requiring distinct elements of justification on the part of school authorities for going beyond a search of outer clothing and belongings."

Admittedly, that decision rested in part upon factors specific to that case, such as the youth of the person subject to the search. Nevertheless, the Court placed a great deal of weight on the fact that authorities had no "reason to suppose that [the student] was carrying pills in her underwear." In other words, if officials want to conduct an unusually intrusive search into a suspect’s most private areas, this strip search case suggests that they must have particular reason to believe that contraband will be found in those private areas. It is doubtful that Texas police had any reason to specifically believe that the three women searched in these videos were carrying marijuana in their vaginas or their rectums.

The New York Daily News identifies one of the officers involved in these incidents as Trooper Jennie Bui, and reports that she was fired on June 29. Another officer, Trooper Kelley Helleson was also fired and charged with two counts of sexual assault. Two other officers are suspended.

Dash-cam video shows woman's arrest during diabetic episode

SANTA FE, NM -- Shocking dash camera footage shows a diabetic woman being dragged out of her car by Santa Fe County sheriff deputies, all while she was having a diabetic episode.

Revena Garcia's blood sugar dropped so low that she became extremely disoriented and could not open her car door. Deputies assumed she was a drunk driver and broke through her window, ripped her limp body from the vehicle, handcuffed her facedown on the hot pavement, where they left her, motionless.

"I was just lost, I was just lost," Garcia said. She said her blood sugar was so low that she could have gone into a coma.

Garcia showed no resistance and there was no reason to be so rough with her, to throw her to the ground, and to leave her there.

A Little Girl's Courage- We need to protect our children.

A Little Girl's Moment Of Courage Captured On Camera Is The Reason We Need To Look After Each Other

Terrified and fearful for her future, 11-year-old Nada al-Ahdal fled her family in her hometown in Yemen to stay with her uncle nearby. Why? Well, her incredibly gut-wrenching description of her experience— and that of millions of girls across the world —is too powerful for me to try to put into words.
Look into her eyes and let her explain to you herself. At 1:38, she asks a question that the whole of humanity needs to answer.

The story of brave little Nada Alahdal who RAN AWAY FROM HOME because she would would rather die than be forced into child marriage. She speaks so eloquently about her ordeal.

A video, posted on YouTube, shows an 11-year-old Yemeni girl called Nada al-Ahdal recounting how she escaped her parents who wanted to force her to marry. Nada comes from a modest family and is one of eight siblings. Fortunately for her, her uncle Abdel Salam al-Ahdal, a montage and graphics technician in a TV station, decided to take her in when she was three years old, to live with him and his aging mother, away from her parents.

Nada was not an only child at home. Her uncle had also taken his other nephew under his wing, as the boy's own father couldn't afford his son's medical requirements. Abdel Salam was thus responsible for bringing up two children. He personally took care of keeping them, and his frail mother, clean and well-fed.

Nada grew up in this caring environment, went to school, and learned English during the summer vacation. She has her own Facebook page, was a gifted singer, and took part in musicals. However, her happiness was cut short when someone came to ask her parents for her hand in marriage. The man, a Yemeni expatriate living in Saudi Arabia, did not care about the girl's age. Her parents were happy because the prospective groom worked abroad and was rich.

Abdel Salam tells NOW: "When I heard about the groom, I panicked. Nada was not even 11 years old; she was exactly 10 years and 3 months. I could not allow her to be married off and have her future destroyed, especially since her aunt was forced to marry at 13 and burnt herself. I did all I could to prevent that marriage. I called the groom and told him Nada was no good for him. I told him she did not wear the veil and he asked if things were going to remain like that. I said 'yes, and I agree because she chose it.' I also told him that she liked singing and asked if he would remain engaged to her."

The groom recanted the engagement and told the girl's parents he did not want their daughter anymore. Nada's parents, looking forward to a hefty bride price, were disappointed.

Nada had an 18 year-old sister who had been engaged many times. Her parents accepted each new proposal and took a partial downpayment for a bride price. They would then postpone the marriage until the groom had enough money, eventually ending each engagement, not returning the money. The same story would start all over again with another suitor, and so it was that she had had nine fiancés.

After Abdel Salam succeeded in warding off Nada's first husband-to-be, her parents came from Zubaid on a visit to Sana'a and asked for their daughter to stay with them until mid-Ramadan. Abdel Salam agreed only to learn from the parents days later that Nada had disappeared.

At one point Nada escaped and tried to return to her uncle. When she got back to Sana'a, she was scared he would take her back to her mother. He found out afterwards that Nada's mother wanted to marry her off again but did not tell him as she feared he would "scare away" the suitor as he had done the first time around.

Abdel Salam took Nada and went to the Ministry of the Interior's family protection department. He explained to them what had happened and they carried out investigations with Nada, her uncle, and her parents. They discovered that there had been no kidnapping and that the parents wanted to marry their daughter against her will. The case ended with Nada's father apologizing for fear of being sentenced for wrongful accusations and saying that he trusted his brother with bringing up his daughter.

In a message sent to NOW, Nada addressed every mother and father seeking to marry off their daughters, saying: "I am a child and I want to realize my dreams. My aunt was forced to get married so she burned herself to death, and I saw pictures of her with burns. Let me realize my dream. I want to go to school, become a star, and help other children. I am not thinking about marriage, I don't want to now. I want to say to fathers and mother, 'let us realize our dreams, do not kill them'."

Man Sentenced to 30 Days in Jail for Collecting Rain Water

Like our NEW page on Facebook.Click here > EducateInspireChange.org

Harrington, of Eagle Point, Oregon, has been fighting for his right to do what he wishes with water since 2002. Now more than a decade after he first defended himself over allegations that the man-made ponds on his 170 acres of land violated local law, Harrington has been sentenced to 30 days behind bars and fined over $1,500.

Authorities say that Harrington broke the law by collecting natural rain water and snow runoff that landed on his property. Officials with the Medford Water Commission contested that the water on Harrington’s property, whether or not it came from the sky, was considered a tributary of nearby Crowfoot Creek and thus subject to a 1925 law that gives the MWC full ownership and rights. Therefor

e prosecutors were able to argue in court — successfully — that three homemade fishing and boating ponds in Harrington’s backyard violated the law.

For filling “three illegal reservoirs” on his property with runoff water, Harrington has been convicted on nine misdemeanor charges in Circuit Court. He says he will attempt to appeal, but as long as the conviction stands to serve 30 days of imprisonment. He has also been sentenced to an additional three years of probation.
Thirty days in jail for catching rainwater?” Harrington tells the Mail Tribune. “We live in an extreme wildfire area and here the government is going to open the valves and really waste all the water right now, at the start of peak fire season.”

“When it comes to the point where a rural landowner can’t catch rainwater that falls on his land to protect his property, it’s gone too far,” he adds to the Associated Press. “This should serve as a dire warning to all pond owners.”

Obama wins back the right to indefinitely detain under NDAA

Like our NEW page on Facebook.Click here > EducateInspireChange.org

The Obama administration has won the latest battle in their fight to indefinitely detain US citizens and foreigners suspected of being affiliated with terrorists under the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012.

Congress granted the president the authority to arrest and hold individuals accused of terrorism without due process under the NDAA, but Mr. Obama said in an accompanying signing statement that he will not abuse these privileges to keep American citizens imprisoned indefinitely. These assurances, however, were not enough to keep a group of journalists and human rights activists from filing a federal lawsuit last year, which contested the constitutionality of Section 1021, the particular provision that provides for such broad power.
A federal judge sided with the plaintiffs originally by granting an injunction against Section 1021, prompting the Obama administration to request an appeal last year. On Wednesday this week, an appeals court in New York ruled in favor of the government and once again allowed the White House to legally indefinitely detain persons that fit in the category of enemy combatants or merely provide them with support.

Cincinnati Police Strip Search College Girl abuse of Power?

Please Remember these Police Officers knew the TV Cameras were Running & they acted this way.. Imagine what they are like when Nobody is Watching

Should This Girl Have Been Strip /Cavity Search over this ? What Exactly did She do Wrong? in my opinion This is an Abuse of Power by Cincinnati Police Officer Brent Eve & Michelle Ball and should Result in Disciplinary action.. including Retraining of the Officers involved & loss of Rank. Listen carefully at
4:20 4:47 and the Comments/Tone of Voice at 5:14 a Police Officers Job is "keeping the Peace" it's not Discipline or Corporal Punishment of Citizens I believe this girl Being Arrested & Strip Searched was basically punitive .. Even the Courts Ruled Against the Officer. it was not "obstructing official business" reduced to a $105 Fine.

Just before this Clip started Officer Eve makes several derogatory (will upload a more complete clip shortly) comments about college students "refusing to obey orders" "learn to show some respect" and already has a "chip on his shoulder" it's Premeditated

When he Arrives on Scene.. notice he asks one Male student "what school do you all go to? that student Replies...whe she hears "UC" She basically calls out "Ohio State" (like Ohio State Rocks - School Rivalry) He asked her a question ..Then immediately Accuses the Girl of "Lying to a Police Officer about what school she went to" How can you Lie.. when your never asked a question directly in the beginning? ... He is also speaking "Very Quickly.. Firing off several Questions "

The Girl is doing her Best to Answer the Questions.. But she has had a few Drinks & is having a hard time understanding (She not trying to disrepect you Officer.. she sort of Drunk & it's not sinking in.) The Officer then decides to Send her to Jail Why? was she Violent? I've Seen Police Stops on TV where Drugs are found in a car (say 1oz) & the person simply gets a ticket The Girl is still confused .. why am I being arrested I'm 21yr old.. it's legal to be Drunk sitting on your own property.

She is Then placed in back of a Female Officer police car, Taken to Jail and "Strip Searched" Seriously? Women are already struggling with "equal rights" issues in Society - Officer Eve message was clear "I'm a Man.. I'm in charge here... and you are going to do as you are told." it's a total Power Trip. even the Female Officer Michelle Ball "yeah it won't be all good when they make you strip down" see
4:20 & they goes off that with an attitute "running your mouth off.. that's what you get" the proof is in 4:47 & the attitute by both officers is unbelievable "if I don't her Yes Sir no Sir.. your going to Jail" it's an Abuse of Power..

The Police Officers both new in advance that being taken to jail would involve a Strip Search & I believe it was used as a punishment.. LET'S BE HONEST: I know she Pissed you off & you wanted to get your point across (notice how her Attitude Change once you handcuffed her) You could placed her in the back of the police car.. given her the old speech about going to Jail & the Strip Search Thing like you did.. written a ticket.. taken her out of the car & release her with a Ticket. But to drag the Girl to Jail over this & get Body Cavity Searched & Humiliating her-vs- The Tickets I've seen for Drugs in your Car .. or Open Container pour out.. warning.. it's Sadistic & Cruel..

Yes I Agree People should Respect Police Officers. but in Reality as a Public Servant there is a certain amount of B.S. Your Required to put up with before Escalating the Issue (Arresting someone, using Deadly Force etc) in light of the Recent U.S. Supreme Court (Florence v. Board of Chosen Freeholders) ruling has opened the Door to this type of Abuse... Jaywalking, Littering , talking back to a police officer? any excuse to "Send you to Jail" Strip search is OK .. "to protect others in Jail"

We Need a change in Laws that say .. individual Police officers Cannot Arrest (I mean send someone to Jail) for Silly stuff.. in Seattle a Man was Arrested for Photographing the inside of an ATM machine in a public place while guards were Servicing it.. because he wanted to see what it looked like inside (that's not illegal) Arrested, strip searched.. released 4hrs Later without being Charged.. Should Result in a $100,000 civil award & Officer being docked in Pay. Jails are to protect public NOT Public Punishment on a whim of an individual police officer.

The Truth About Hemp

Abby Martin takes a look at the real reasons why Hemp is illegal in the U,S. The truth might surprise you.

15 Fascinating Facts About Hemp

1. All schoolbooks were made from hemp or flax paper until the 1880s. (Jack Frazier. Hemp Paper Reconsidered. 1974.)
2. It was legal to pay taxes with hemp in America from 1631 until the early 1800s. (LA Times. Aug. 12, 1981.)
3. Refusing to grow hemp in America during the 17th and 18th centuries was against the law! You could be jailed in Virginia for refusing to grow hemp from 1763 to 1769 (G. M. Herdon. Hemp in Colonial Virginia).
4. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other founding fathers grew hemp. (Washington and Jefferson Diaries. Jefferson smuggled hemp seeds from China to France then to America.)
5. Benjamin Franklin owned one of the first paper mills in America, and it processed hemp. Also, the War of 1812 was fought over hemp. Napoleon wanted to cut off Moscow’s export to England. (Jack Herer. Emperor Wears No Clothes.)
6. For thousands of years, 90% of all ships’ sails and rope were made from hemp. The word ‘canvas’ comes from the Middle English word “canevas” which comes from the Latin word cannabis. (Webster’s New World Dictionary.)
7. 80% of all textiles, fabrics, clothes, linen, drapes, bed sheets, etc., were made from hemp until the 1820s, with the introduction of the cotton gin.
8. The first Bibles, maps, charts, Betsy Ross’s flag, the first drafts of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were made from hemp. (U.S. Government Archives.)
9. The first crop grown in many states was hemp. 1850 was a peak year for Kentucky producing 40,000 tons. Hemp was the largest cash crop until the 20th century. (State Archives.)
10. Oldest known records of hemp farming go back 5000 years in China, although hemp industrialization probably goes back to ancient Egypt.
11. Rembrandt’s, Van Gogh’s, Gainsborough’s, as well as most early canvas paintings, were principally painted on hemp linen.
12. In 1916, the U.S. Government predicted that by the 1940s all paper would come from hemp and that no more trees need to be cut down. Government studies report that 1 acre of hemp equals 4.1 acres of trees. Plans were in the works to implement such programs. (U.S. Department of Agriculture Archives.)
13. Quality paints and varnishes were made from hemp seed oil until 1937. 58,000 tons of hemp seeds were used in America for paint products in 1935. (Sherman Williams Paint Co. testimony before the U.S.Congress against the 1937 Marijuana Tax Act.)
14. Henry Ford’s first Model-T was built to run on hemp gasoline and the car itself was constructed from hemp! On his large estate, Ford was photographed among his hemp fields. The car, ‘grown from the soil,’ had hemp plastic panels whose impact strength was 10 times stronger than steel. (Popular Mechanics, 1941.)
15. In 1938, hemp was called ‘Billion Dollar Crop.’ It was the first time a cash crop had a business potential to exceed a billion dollars. (Popular Mechanics, Feb. 1938.)

Cop Sexually Assaults Woman Then Arrests Her For Protesting

This story is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of what is wrong with both the police departments as well as the justice system in the U.S. A cop sexually assaults a woman, then arrests her for protesting the sexual assault. There is something really upsetting about the way the judge just ignores her cries for help. Take a look for yourself :
