130lb bomb 'meant for shopping centre' In Belfast

The 130lb proxy car bomb intended to blow up the underground car park of one of Belfast's main shopping centres "could have been catastrophic for Belfast and Northern Ireland", police have said.

A hijacked driver was ordered to take the primed device in the back of his car from Ardoyne to Victoria Square by three masked men in boilersuits, who warned him that he would be followed.

"The man was clearly very upset, very scared, but felt he had no other option but to drive a primed bomb into the city centre," PSNI Chief Superintendent Alan McCrum told UTV.

"He did that and left it in Victoria Street, close to the access to Victoria Square, and then ran across to the police station."

After the alarm was raised, cordons were put in place, with hundreds of shoppers and residents caught up in the security alert - close to both Musgrave PSNI station and the Laganside courts complex - from 9.30pm on Sunday.

They only need to be, to use that old phrase, 'lucky once' ... We're very fortunate they didn't get that detonation.

But, as army experts examined the bomb, the booster charge went off at about 11.15pm - blowing a door and the rear windscreen out of the vehicle.

If the bomb had fully detonated, Chief Superintendent McCrum said the consequences would have been very considerable for the city centre.

"With the high buildings, with the amount of glass in certainly Victoria Square and around the courts and the police station, it undoubtedly would have had a severe impact," he said.

"Four weeks out from Christmas, one of the major city centre streets would have been, perhaps not devastated, but very significantly damaged."

Police are urging vigilance in the run-up to Christmas, given the increased threat level which will also mean a more visible security presence in the city centre and in other towns across Northern Ireland.

"It's been many years since there was an attempt to put a car bomb into the city centre," Chief Superintendent McCrum added.

"Much of that is to do with the fact that the police are out there 24 hours a day, active and making sure the city is a safe place. So the city still is very much a safe place to shop and a safe place to socialise and a safe place to work in. And we will continue to try to make it all of those things."

Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information - particularly about the movements of the hijacked car - to contact them, either directly or anonymously through Crimestoppers.

The vehicle in question is a silver-coloured Renault Laguna, registration number CJZ 4697.

The philosophy of these groups is simply hatred ... They seem to be in some form of bizarre competition to make sure that they have a profile.

Northern Ireland Secretary of State Theresa Villiers condemned the bomb attack and said that businesses were being "held to ransom" by terrorists at the start of the festive season.

"The people behind this attack want to drag Northern Ireland back to the past," she said.

"They are deliberately seeking to damage the efforts of the Government and the NI Executive to promote growth and jobs in Northern Ireland and attract tourists and investors.

"Northern Ireland deserves so much more - there is no support in the community for the disgraceful activities of these terrorist groups."

Meanwhile, Justice Minister David Ford has blamed dissidents for the attempted bomb attack, slamming their "disregard for the people of Belfast".

The Alliance leader added: "Had the device exploded en route, it could have caused untold death and injury.

"Thankfully little damage was caused and there were no injuries. However, aside from the appalling experience of the driver, the lives of hundreds of people were disrupted and many businesses continue to be affected.

"The people responsible for this attack have nothing to offer and it is time they realised that Northern Ireland has moved on from the dark days of our past."

Those responsible for this attack have shown a total disregard for life, including that of the driver they forced to carry the device.

DUP Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster also condemned the attack, saying it did nothing to help the economy or the community.

"It is not on the scale of the bad old days, but it is a worrying trend - the hijacking of cars and buses, which seems to be the modus operandi for these people," she said.

"I would urge people to be vigilant and to keep their doors locked.

"This is not the sort of thing we want from our capital city, which had a difficult time last Christmas."

Chair of the Policing Board Anne Connolly said the device had the potential to cause death, injury and serious damage to property.

"The community really are sick and tired of the actions of dissidents and the widespread disruption that is being caused to people's lives and livelihoods," she said.

"The use of the 'proxy bomb' tactic in recent days is concerning and further evidences the complete lack of care these people have for those who might get caught up in an attack."

In a separate incident, Ravenhill Avenue was closed in both directions at its junction with Roseberry Gardens and Roseberry Road after a suspicious object was found in the area on Sunday.

Earlier, a suspect object found at Stockman's Lane was declared a hoax by police following a controlled explosion. It was the first of the three security alerts to disrupt the city on Sunday.

Oliver Stone’s Son Says 9/11 Was an ‘Inside Job,’ Hezbollah Aren’t Terrorists, Israel Is a ‘Crusader State’

Hollywood director Oliver Stone’s son Sean made news last year when he said he’d converted to Islam on Valentine’s Day while working on a film in Iran and that he believed then Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was "misunderstood."

Now the 28-year old actor and director is voicing his opinions on the Quran ("a very sensible book"), 9/11 ("an inside job"), Hezbollah ("don’t consider them to be terrorists") and Iran (a "very civilized people").

The younger Stone, who says he is part Jewish and was baptized a Christian before converting to Shi’a Islam, shared his views in an interview last week with RT, the Russian government’s English-language television network.

"The Quran is a very sensible book. If you read it, frankly it makes a whole lot of sense regarding their interpretation of Jesus who they look to as a prophet. And obviously the Abrahamic lineage from Abraham to Moses are all very much respected in the Quran," Stone said (emphasis added).

Revealing opinions in line with so-called 9/11 "truthers," Stone said, "9/11 was probably an inside job of some kind that it was not simply a rag-tag group of terrorists led by bin Laden who conducted this operation."

Speaking to an interviewer who expressed sympathy for his opinions, Stone called the U.S. war on terror in response to the attacks on the U.S. homeland "over a decade of constant fear mongering and aggression."

"Despite the fact that there’s more awareness on it, why is it that we do continue to see this propaganda about the boogeyman terrorists whether they be Muslim or Russian or North Korean or what not? What is that system? It’s a cycle of fear. It’s a cycle that has to be broken internally," Stone said.

Oliver Stone has in the past railed against what he called Israel’s "powerful lobby in Washington" and it appears his son sympathizes with his views. Sean Stone referred to Israelis as "European settlers" who don’t feel "comfortable in what is historically Palestine."

The younger Stone says many Middle Easterners object to Israel’s existence, because they view it "as a crusader state, a crusader kingdom."

"So when they see all these European, Russian Jews, coming to Israel, they’re saying look at these European settlers. They’re not Jews from this region, they have no ties to the land," he said.

"Now, I’m not a proponent of attacking Israel or trying to dissolve it at this point, but I’m simply saying that that is why there’s so much antagonism to Israel," Sean Stone added.

Stone spoke to Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly last year about his impressions of Iran, saying "With Ahmadinejad, he’s a little bit misunderstood because there are many factions in that country and he said some sensational things."

On Hezbollah, which Iran funds and trains, Stone now says it’s "debatable" if the group is terrorist.
"As they operate within Lebanese borders, I don’t’ consider them to be terrorists. I see them as defenders of Lebanese sovereignty because they, Lebanon has been invaded numerous times by Israel," Stone said.

"So Iran as a terrorist sponsor I think is a great exaggeration," Stone added.

Stone compared suicide bombers to U.S. military drone strikes on terrorists, saying "the whole concept of terrorism is quite insane at this point where we have drones and missiles being launched and killing hundreds of thousands of people in that region, across the Middle East, across North Africa since this war on terrorism occurred."

"Because we killed them with our missiles, we don’t consider ourselves terrorists. We only consider those who blow themselves up terrorists. And obviously you cannot create that qualification. That’s a 1984 Orwellian double speak term," Stone said.

"So, the idea of Iran as this great terrorist enemy is not true. They’re very civilized people, they have a 3,000 year history," the actor said.

"They are not looking to destroy themselves in the process of a war against … Israel unless there’s a good motivation to do so," he added.

Noam Chomsky: Obama Is 'Running Biggest Terrorist Operation That Exists'

Continuing his streak of fiercely criticizing President Obama's foreign policy and civil liberties record, pre-eminent left-wing scholar Noam Chomsky told GRITtv that this administration is "dedicated to increasing terrorism" throughout the world via its own "terrorist" drone strikes in foreign lands. Speaking with GRITtv host Laura Flanders about the National Security Agency snooping scandal, Chomsky remarked that "the Obama administration is dedicated to increasing terrorism; it's doing it all over the world."

He continued: "Obama is running the biggest terrorist operation that exists, maybe in history: the drone assassination campaigns, which are just part of it [...] All of these operations, they are terror operations." Drone strikes are "terror" because, Chomsky said, the attacks have the effect of "terrorizing" locals."

"You are generating more terrorist operations," Chomsky pointedly said. "People have a reaction" when they lose a loved one to an American drone strike, he added. "They don't say, 'Fine, I don't care if my cousin was murdered.' They become what we call terrorists. This is completely understood from the highest level."

He recalled the recent congressional testimony of a Yemeni man named Farea al-Muslimi, who described how a single drone strike managed to "radicalize" his entire village against the United States.

"People hate the country that's just terrorizing them," Chomsky concluded. That's not a surprise. Just consider the way we react to acts of terror. That's the way other people react to acts of terror."

Al Jazeera Reporter Raped by Leader of Western Backed Terrorist Group Al-Nusra

A female Al Jazeera correspondent, who is covering the terrorist activities from different cities in Syria for months, was quickly moved to Qatar, after one of the commanders of Al Nusra Front, Al-Qaeda affiliated terrorist group, raped her in Aleppo. Egyptian daily Al-Nahar reported that Ghada Oweis, Al Jazeera correspondent, has long been working alongside terrorist groups opposed to Bashar al-Assad in Aleppo to send reports to Qatari network.

A few days ago on the invitation of one of the commanders of this Salafist group, she went to his office. Surprisingly however, the Al-Nusra militias did not allow her camera crews to enter the office.

And they took Ms. Oweis by force and told the crews to come back for interview tomorrow.

Al Jazeera correspondent was rushed out of Syria via Turkey, when it was discovered she was raped by the commander of Al-Nusra Front in Aleppo. She was transferred to Qatar later, she is emotionally in shock.

Returning to Qatar, Ghada Oweis demanded justice and asked the senior leaders of Al-Nusra group to punish this commander. Reportedly Al Jazeera is trying to prevent the reporter from affirming the news by ways of pressure and payments of huge amount of money to maintain the good image of the terrorists fighting in Syria.

The terrorist militias in Syria have been committing numerous acts of violence and shameless atrocities against the civilians, by using a Fatwa; issued by one of the Muftis of Salafists, that militias fighting in Syria can force women to ‘Jihad al Nikah’ (Girls must participate in “marriage” to fulfill their Jihad obligations in Syria).

London Attacker Speaks After Beheading
