The Fukushima video everybody needs to watch


Fears are growing over the Fukushima nuclear disaster clean-up operation and how the operation could go horribly wrong, affecting Japan and large areas of the Northern Hemisphere.
THIS VIDEO is the latest in a wave of videos and alarming stories that are cropping up in the media.
Part of the problem with this disaster are the mixed signals being given by the Japanese government, and other governments around the world, and a number of experts who have been warning of the potential dangers.
Take 10 minutes to look at this video and try to make your own mind up as to whether there should be serious cause for concern, and whether an international response to help with the clean-up is needed.
THE VIDEO is a compilation, a brief overview that endeavors to cover the main points concerning this crisis. It briefly covers the 3 core meltdowns, the vulnerable and leaky water storage tanks, radiation health effects, contamination of the Pacific Ocean and marine life, Unit 4 collapse risk and Unit 4 fuel rod removal risk.
As the maker of the video says, the situation is ongoing and deteriorating, and it’s highly likely that it’s actually worse than presented here. This is only a basic outline of some key elements, which a video editor has compiled to try to present in a way that should be easily understood by everyone, particularly those who’ve not been following this crisis.

Quake kills 45 in Pakistan, Creates New Island in the Sea

(Reuters) - A major earthquake hit a remote part of western Pakistan on Tuesday, killing at least 45 people and prompting a new island to rise from the sea just off the country's southern coast.

Tremors were felt as far away as the Indian capital of New Delhi, hundreds of miles (kilometers) to the east, where buildings shook, as well as the sprawling port city of Karachi in Pakistan.





The United States Geological Survey said the 7.8 magnitude quake struck 145 miles southeast of Dalbandin in Pakistan's quake-prone province of Baluchistan, which borders Iran.

The earthquake was so powerful that it caused the seabed to rise and create a small, mountain-like island about 600 meters (yards) off Pakistan's Gwadar coastline in the Arabian Sea.

Television channels showed images of a stretch of rocky terrain rising above the sea level, with a crowd of bewildered people gathering on the shore to witness the rare phenomenon.

Officials said scores of mud houses were destroyed by aftershocks in the thinly populated mountainous area near the quake epicenter in Baluchistan, a huge barren province of deserts and rugged mountains.

Abdul Qadoos, deputy speaker of the Baluchistan assembly, told Reuters that at least 30 percent of houses in the impoverished Awaran district had caved in.

The local deputy commissioner in Awaran, Abdul Rasheed Gogazai, and the spokesman of Pakistan's Frontier Corps involved in the rescue effort said at least 45 people had been killed.

In the regional capital of Quetta, officials said some areas appeared to be badly damaged but it was hard to assess the impact quickly because the locations were so remote.

Chief secretary Babar Yaqoob said earlier that 25 people had been injured and that the death toll was expected to increase as many people appeared to be trapped inside their collapsed homes.

Local television reported that helicopters carrying relief supplies had been dispatched to the affected area. The army said it had deployed 200 troops to help deal with the disaster.

The Earth Opened Up and Swallowed A Man!



As 37 year old Jeff Bush from Tampa, Florida lay in his bed on a Thursday evening, not unlike any other evening, he was unfortunately unaware that this was to be his last evening on the surface of this planet! 

A relentless and unwavering sinkhole opened up under his bedroom floor consuming Jeff and and everything in his room. His brother tried to rescue him and stated that "Everything was gone!" 

When the ground begins opening up beneath our feet and plunging unsuspecting mortals into the abyss, some may be tempted to reach for the Bible and start predicting the End of Times. But biblical as the story sounds, the sinkhole – as the phenomenon is called – is was not an act of God but of geology.






In the language of geologists, the process that causes sinkholes is "the creation of a void which migrates towards the surface". In the language of the layman, when there's not enough solid stuff left underneath to support what is left of the loose stuff above, the whole lot collapses. The resulting depressions characterise what is known as a karst landscape, in which hundreds or even thousands of relatively small sinkholes form across an area that, seen from the air, can appear almost pock-marked!




In the UK, Dr Anthony Cooper -  a principle geologist at the British Geologist Survey, has commented that no deaths attributable solely to naturally formed sinkholes have been recorded in recent times. He does proclaim, however, since extremes of sinkhole-affecting weather – long periods of drought, for example, followed by spells of unusually heavy and persistent rain – are widely predicted to become more frequent as the Earth's climate changes, "we would certainly expect there to be more sinkholes in the future".

 It could be only a matter of time before Britain buries a Jeff Bush!

Fire Tornadoes - A Natural Phenomena



Fire tornadoes are one of the most unpredictable natural phenomenas known to man, usually alighting in dry, heated and windy weather associated with intense bush fires. Also known as ‘the devil’s whirl’, they are usually around 200 feet tall and when they hit populated areas they are devastating. In 1923, a fire tornado killed 38,000 people in less than fifteen minutes across a district of Tokyo.
 Fire tornadoes are rare in nature, but when they do start spinning they're even hotter than a regular fire. James Williams gets an explanation on how and why they occur from a fire protection expert.
